Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper is the third release of the Barbie Series after Barbie in the Nutcracker and Barbie as Rapunzel. The film was loosely based from the classic novel of Mark Twain titled The Prince and the Pauper. The plot of the film was written by Cliff Ruby and Elana Lesser under the direction of William Lau under the production studios of Mainframe Entertainment and Mattel Entertainment. It was released under the distribution of Lionsgate Home Entertainment and was able to receive mostly positive receives from critics.
The main characters of the film were voiced by a cast ensemble including Kelly Sheridan as the Narrator, Anneliese (speaking), and Erika (speaking), Julie Stevens as Erika (singing), Melissa Lyons as Anneliese (singing), Mark Hildreth as Dominick (speaking), Mark Luna as Dominick (singing), Alessandro Juliani as Julian, Martin Short as Preminger, Ellen Kennedy as Queen Genevieve, Pam Hyatt as Madam Carp, Kathleen Barr as Serafina/Bertie, Ian James Corlett as Wolfie/Guard no. 3, Lee Tockar as Ambassador Bismark/Guard no. 2, Brian Drummond as Nick,Jan Rabson as Nack and Midas, Colin Murdock as Royal Scheduler, Janyse Jaud as Palace Maid, Gary Chalk as Herve, and Roger Monk as Minister.
